Q. What certificates allow me to work as a Consultant ?
Usually a post-Graduate degree with 3 or more years duration of clinical studying ( MSc , FCPS ..)
The following Certificates DO NOT allow you to register as a consultant at MMDC :
Diploma ( 1-2 years ) , Egyptian Fellowship , Arab Board , any Degree from a non listed University - Irish Colleges Membership , UK Royal College Membership ,European Diploma

Q. Can I apply after doing my House Officer Internship year Directly ?
-Medical & Dental Officer posts are very competitive recently
- we do not promise or guarantee a job - no honest person can
-your part is to send full documents exactly as required , along with filled forms
& wait for as long as it takes
- vacancies are opened usually for a week , ready candidates with full documents forwarded to us stand higher chances as we have them already listed in our database
-Validity of Good standing certificate & Police clearance is 3 months from issuance ( no matter the validity might be written on the certificate 6 months - should be valid upon submission of application & upon arrival )
- no specific timings for announcements , stay tuned to our social media platforms to know the updates
- as per June 2023 we have decided not to take documents from candidates with less than 5 years experience post internship compulsory year - we have noticed recently more years of experience are required .
- we do not take medical officers couples as we do not guarantee a job for both of them.
-you might need to wait for more than a year just to get shortlisted for an interview .

Q. When do I get to know which Hospital / Island am I assigned to ?
Unless we state clearly the it's an opportunity at private sector / IGMH / HLH ,
You DO NOT get to know / choose the hospital
until you arrive in Maldives & sign your contract at MOH
MOH will assign you to the designated island according to their priorities.
Q. What about the Interview ?
Once we apply , Employers/ MOH review your credentials.
Shortlisted candidates will be scheduled for an interview panel.

Q. Are there Any Age Restrictions?
- Candidates are supposed to be medically fit to practice.
- recently MOH asked medical officers age limit to be 45 years old.

Q. What about the Remuneration package offered ?
- Government Pay Scale is fixed
- Regardless of how many years of Experience all candidates are offered Grade 1 posts
- You are not allowed to practice in Private sector while working for Governmental hospitals
- ZERO TAX income
- Due to the Covid Pandemic : mvr to usd Market exchange rate can vary, please check that.
- Consultants Salary Approx. (56,000 mvr ) including allowances ( you pay for rent )
- Medical Officer Salary Approx. ( +28,000 mvr ) ( +Overtime 76mvr /hour ) ( you pay for rent )
- Average rent on local islands outside Capital Male ranges 3000 - 6000 mvr (200-400 usd)
- Work Visa ( Work Permit / Employment Approval ) fees covered by employer
- Free Health Insurance for the Candidate.
- Annually Two Flight tickets are partially refunded ( 200 usd + 50% of any extra )

Q. How long is the Contract ?
One year , renewable.
No Locum based contracts in Governmental sector.
Q. How does the contract end ?
First 3 months are probation / evaluation period during which the candidate can resign any time.
After probation , the candidate needs to give a resignation notice 3 months prior to the date.
Q. What about the leaves granted ?
◾Annual Leave 30 days paid after 12 months of work
◾Emergency / Family Responsibility ( FRL) leave 10 days
◾Sick leaves : 30 days separately through the year
◾Circumcision leave 5 days for Muslim sons
◾Maternity Leave : negotiable with the employer
Q. Do I have to Pay any fees ( in Advance ) ?
Although our services are not free of Charge ,
You don't have to pay anything prior to your arrival
No down payments until you arrive in Maldives & sign your contract
our Service Charges start from 1500 $ & are subject to change.
Service charges vary according to recruited category , employer .
Q. How about working as a Resort Doctor ?
- working as a General Practitioner Medical Officer , caring for tourist guests
- Fixed Salary 1500-2000$ + Service charge ( bonus 350-550 $ )
- Salary Paid in US dollars not in mvr
- usually they required a doctor with valid MMDC license and experience in Maldives
- Free Accommodation - Food - WIFI
- you are not allowed to leave the Resort island

Q. Do I have to undergo a Medical checkup?
-Yes, ( twice ) before & upon arrival you have to pass a medical checkup
-we arrange that in one of the accredited health facilities in Maldives,
-you will be examined by an Internal Medicine Consultant to rule out any conditions
-CBC
-Chest X-ray to exclude pathologies as TB
-urine test for Substance Drug Abuse
-HBsAg, HIV, VDRL for Syphilis.
-HCV Abs
-Medical checkups cost (450 -650 mvr + 50 mvr for photography)
-Results can be obtained after 1 day.

Yes , you can. Although we'd always advise you to arrive on your own first.
